DIY :: Block Stamping

Hello!

I went to Blick the other week and collected some fun stuff for block printing. I made my own squirrel stamp (two, to be exact) using the Blick E-Z-Cut Printing Blocks by cutting with Speedball Linoleum Cutters. The printing blocks are super easy to cut through, which is awesome for speedy carving, and could be dangerous because I almost sliced my fingers off a few times. It gets really fun though.

Then James, being the crafty little sucker that he is, cut some wood for me to mount it on. So sweet. I printed them with a fabric ink onto muslin to test it out and I ended up FORGETTING that I was just testing them out and ended up printing all my muslin. Oops! Looks like I was having too much squirrel-ish fun.

And that's what some of them look like. I also tried to make a Bird Trouble stamp, just for fun, but forgot that once it was printed, it was backwards. Trial and error, baby, trial and error.

As you can see, Cheeseburger was having a mighty fun time sitting on the couch, SCREAMING, at me for attention. Might as well just walk over all my fabric, kitten! Oh wait, she did. Kitten prints would be cute. Oh and also, this is my Caturday post too. Take that!

Caturday

Meow, little primitive kitten. This little folk art cat is made to order by Old War Primitives. I'm in love with the simplicity of his sandy coat and the nostalgic memories it gave me.

It was fall, and we were driving down roads that could possibly lead to no where. We saw a structure that looked like a home, a crumbling barn in the distance. We'd park the car far and ran down the side of the dusty road, jumped the rusted iron fence, and headed towards the barn with our bodies close together. The barn had wallpaper that was melting off, wood floors, wood walls that were warping. There was an attic with a little window, where I swear that little primitive cat should have been in the corner of the room.
I found a purse and a monthly-dated (not year dated) journal in a closet in that home. In the front cover of the journal, there was one sentence written in that book. It was from a woman that was seemed to be craving for simplicity. Whether or not she found peace, I know that her home and her journal gave me a wonderful memory of my whimsical, care-free, teenage angst years and a book to write in when I crave simplicity. I still write in that book to this day.

This weekend, I'm enjoying some quality dude time with some dude friends... one I haven't seen in, oh, a year? We're going to eat ice cream for dinner and stay up past 9:00pm! I love dudes who act like their my disgusting brothers.

Happy Caturday

Happy Caturday my lovely, cat lovin', readers!
I'm going to try to make every Saturday, Caturday on my blog.
My co-workers and I always email blast each other with kitten photos, videos, kitten love, cats on cats, cats with bunnies, ect. They always make my start to the weekend a peppy one.

Caturday is solely because I am slightly and more and more becoming crazy about cats. It's just the weird things that Cheeseburger does that makes me goo-goo over her. Today, she wouldn't let me take her cat board scratcher because she thought I was going to destroy it. She calmed down after I told her that I was putting more drugs in it for her. She quietly nodded her kitten head and I continued to take her scratch board into the kitchen.

She was pretty happy when I came back into the living room.
