Friday I'm In Love : WITH NOVELLA ROYALE

Thanks to the NR Blog for their pictures.

Novella Royale. Novella Royale. I love the way that sounds coming off the tongue. So much that I'm renaming today's post of Friday, I'm In Love and changing it to FRIDAY, I'M IN LOVE WITH NR. Caps necessary.

I've been following the Novella Royale brand and blog ever since I came across their Instagram. I first saw a pair of their bellbottoms, but quickly was smitten by their bags and overall lifestyle (All for supporting other bag creators and I can totally talk up another bag designer! I'd do a couple or more dares for my very own NR bag). I've been meaning to share their name, and was reminded to after Laura added them onto one of the Bohemian Collective Pinterest boardsThis company is truly an inspiration to me as a one-woman show behind Bird Trouble. They are one of my personal style inspirations, as well as one of Bird Trouble's inspiration because I can see their drive and hard work. I'm just obsessed with those bellbottoms and am loving the fact that they're bags are also made out of recycled leather jackets. NR and I know what's up (nudge, nudge- right Mary Meyers?) when it comes to helping reduce waste.

Not only these reasons, but also because they just really make me want to move back to sunny California and make myself a pair of bellbottoms. I'll just stick to making the bellbottoms.

Happy Birthday Audrey Hepburn!

Today is Audrey Hepburn's birthday. If she were still living, she would be 83 years old. Not only has she defined women's fashion with her classic and impeccable style, but she has been an inspiration to so many women and more to come! She has that something - or would it be everything - about her that you are drawn to. She was talented, generous, and the lady always had some damn good eye brows. I've always loved her style and have found her to be a huge inspiration. Her encouraging words to just live and just be happy is something that can help get you through your day, and could be a great reminder for everyone.

“The most important thing is to enjoy your life - to be happy - it’s all that matters.”

A perfectly charming lady! Ladies, can we be more like Audrey? Let's just be happy, encouraging, and some days - let's dress a little classier.
Oh, and we'll all need to get a pet deer. I am a-ok with that.

PS. HAPPY FRIDAY!

Style Envy :: Closet Visit

Closet Visit is making my heart skip a beat, making me anxious, making me want to buy more tools and craft gadgets, making me want to grow my hair super long, wishing I had bangs, making me want to go home and make a lace dress and comb my hair and possibly drink some hot tea under candle light. Here are some images that caught my eye, but you should head on over to Closet Visit to see for yourself.

Until next time,
Alexz

Recently from the Estate Sale

 I found some real great dresses.

While Jen and Alec were out here, we decided to check out an estate sale in Avondale. I always thought estate sales were a million times more fun and exciting to go to. Thrift stores can be okay but there's nothing like going to an estate sale at a home that is currently being completely cleared out. Being in someone else's home and going through their things can sometimes be a lot to take it- but the finds are greater.

Hidden in the basement that smelled very similar to my grandma's basement, these dresses were tucked away in linen jackets. I still need to get them cleaned, but I'm excited to wear them and get them all ready for this fall and winter. The blue one needs some major TLC. The bottom has spots that don't look like they're going anywhere. I'm most likely just cut it shorter. It'll just be more of a micro-mini, like the retro orange dress.

This particular home might have been one of my favorites. There were pretty linens, cute knick knacks, secret doors with skeleton keys, and a crazy retro washing machine.
She even had a sewing machine that matched my tattoo almost identical!
The lady who was working there thought it was the most wild thing she had ever seen.

Among these, I found a steamer trunk for $1, a large tote bag that I'll use as a reusable shopping bag for 50 cents, a bunch of long ivory table lace for bag supplies (!!!), and a little camera. All this for $8! Jen and Alec grabbed some clothes, a radio, and suitcases for dirt cheap too.

Do you ever go to estate sales? What have you found?

xoxo,
Alexz

Inside a Friend's Bedroom

Dani gave me a tour of her apartment a few nights ago.
I loved her bedroom so much that I wanted to share it with you guys. Enjoy.

I loved the drape hanging off the bed, all of her vintage hats, the lighting (it was also 2am during this tour), the shabby Marie Antionette meets relaxation and a retro class. She's so darn cute!

Do you love bedroom tours just as much as I do?
xoxo,
Alexz

Style Inspiration ::: Lauren Moffatt

Thanks to CaliVintage, I've become slightly obsessed and inspired by Lauren Moffatt's fall line. Be sure to read up on her bio, she's quite inspiring and a lot like myself and my readers. She also has a blog you can follow, too!
Here is some more eye candy of my favorite pieces.
Hopefully this will keep your eyes busy while I'm taking my "break".

::Moving update::
We're slowly unpacking. The living room furniture and the TV is set up so we're able to relax, but the rest of the place is a slow painful process as I try to unpack with the sorest muscles I've ever encountered. We spent from 9AM to 12:30AM on the run and unpacking [while going down 2 flights of stairs, and back up 3 flights]. It was really hot that day too.
But let me tell you, I've been sleeping like a baby knowing that James and I have our OWN place. We have such a similar. It's wonderful.

Until next time,
Alexz
